What to expect from a first appointment
We start with a short phone call so you can tell us what is going on and ask questions. If we are a good fit, we set a first appointment at a time that works around school and work.
Your first visit
How long is the first session?
Plan on about 50 minutes. It is mostly listening: your history, what brought you in, and what you would like to be different.
Who should come?
For younger children, a parent or caregiver usually joins for part or all of the session. For teens, we often start together and then talk with the teen alone. Tell us what feels right and we will plan it with you.
What should we bring?
Any intake paperwork we send ahead, plus insurance or ID if you have it. If you have notes from a school or doctor, bring those too.
What happens after?
We agree on a few goals and a session schedule, and we check in on how things are going as we go.
Is what we share private?
Yes. Sessions are confidential, with the limited exceptions the law requires. We go over this at the first visit.
Questions before you book?
Call or send a short note and we will walk you through it.
